Girlicious Episode 4
Posted on - March 15, 2008 @ 11:27 am

This week after all the harsh ‘fan’ critique, the girls were a bit down as far as their spirits were concerned. When the songs were handed out, I cringed along with the girls when they said ‘Heart of Glass by Blondie’. That is like the worse song to sing, because it’s like a signature song for her and the pitch is aweful. My heart went out to Cassandra because I knew she wouldn’t be able to hit those notes, it was so insane.

While I don’t condone ganging up on someone, I honestly think that Jena needed to step it up as far as dancing is concerned. She is too laid back as far as I’m concerned. I mean this week is disco and if you’ve ever seen anything about the 70s then you’d know it’s all about energy and excitement and she’s just not bringing it.

Chrystina is seriously pissing me off. She’s acting bratty just because she was in the bottom two? Instead of learning and taking their words to heart and trying better, she’s acting all annoyed about it. When she told robin that she felt she didn’t deserve to be in the bottom two, I was super annoyed. I was also happy when they took her down a peg because seriously, if she could have made it on her own and with the skills she has now, she would have been famous already so she really needs to just take the criticism.

On makeover day, I personally was excited for all the girls. It brought back memories of the last makeover day on ‘Search for the next Doll’. I was a bit taken back when Jamie said she looked like a white girl on makeover day. I honestly didn’t know she was latino until she said so, and personally I think she looked really good.

This week their challenge was to walk and own the red carpet and honestly all the girls were hot. Jena was dead on the red carpet. I understand she’s a more laid back kind of girl but she looked like she just wanted to go home. Jamie is a complainer. Although I thought she’d stink up the carpet, she was surprisingly good. Natalie was the same as always. Good but nothing different about her. I was looking for something that popped but naw, it didn’t happen. I think Cassandra was the worst on the carpet. She was just bland for me, like she was going through the motions.

During rehersals, I was so happy when they started pushing the weak ones like Jamie and Chrystina because they’re talented and they need to show it.

Group one’s (charley, nichole and natalie) performance was amazing. They sang ‘Take Your Time (Do It Right)’ by SOS Band and they really popped. Plus they were on rollerskates which kicked butt. The really were in sync although I think that Nichole was a bit slow on the vocals in the beginning.

Group two ( Jamie, Ilisa, Cassandra) performed ‘Heart of Glass’ by Blondie. Remember what I said about it being a terrible song? Well the expressions on the judges faces said it all. The vocals stunk and I think Ilisa did the best out of all of them. When Jamie started crying, I wanted to smack her. She looks amazing but she is just so unhappy that it hurt the performance. They were obviously on the elimination block tonight.

When group three (Chrystina, Tiffanie, Jenna, Carrie) sand ‘Dim all the lights’ By Donna Summer, I really felt the song. Tiffanie just brought the energy that the others didn’t have and amazingly Christina did well also. I thought she would be stale tonight and she definitely wasn’t.

When they announced the bottom two, Jamie and Cassandra, I was rooting for Cassandra. This was definately not her night or her song, and I blame the vocal coach for that. He really needed to help her bring it down to her range and he didn’t. As we saw last season, this was a case of ‘you can’t make a dancer a singer’ and unfortunately that was what did her in. I thought her dancing was spot on. She has amazing legs and moves and she worked it.

Girlicious Episode 3
Posted on - March 12, 2008 @ 3:14 pm

So many ups and downs that it almost made my head spin, and sadly at the end one girls goes home. It’s almost enough to make me cry. I loved this episode and I got to admit, they’ve really gotten better since the beginning.

I gotta agree with the vocal coach and say that tiffany is a bit too much. She really needs to learn when bring it out and when to pull back on her singing. I actually cringed when she was singing in rehersal >_<. I really don’t like how the rest of the girls treated Ilisa and I don’t like the comments that Natalie made about her. I have to wonder does she think anyone is girlicious material except herself? I do think Ilisa is girlicious material. I’m not sure, but I believe that Robin has this street fresh image of them and I think she is that. Pussy Cat Dolls is more burlesque in my mind and Girlicious is different. I really love Ilisa’s look and I think that her self-esteem is getting pretty low so it may really affect her performance.

I was so touched when Nichole from PCD cameo’d and just boosted everyone’s confidence, especially Ilisa’s. I was really like ‘yes, take that feeling and those words and keep ‘em close’ because she really needed to hear and feel that. After the demo when the girls got up on stage and Ilisa rocked it, I was so happy when all those little girls said such nice things about her and everyone saw what I saw in that unique and different doesn’t have to be bad, it’s actually great. I actually clapped because I knew that she worked it and people really loved her.

When they did their test songs that night, I’d say that Ilisa really rocked it for me. I also have to give props to my girls cassandra, nichole and keisha for their amazing performances. When it came down to the final two, I was pulling for Chrystina. I think she was the better of the two and I was glad when she was still standing.
